Daphne's Mermaid Cake

This cake has been on my radar for over a year. One of my good friends wanted to throw her daughter a mermaid birthday party last year, but for a bunch of unforeseen circumstances they weren't able to do it. So now, this year, as Daphne's birthday has come around again, she is getting her mermaid birthday party, and this gorgeous mermaid cake. It seems like mermaid cakes have become pretty popular recently, but it was fun to make my own take on it. All of the decorations are edible, and were really fun to make. My girls were especially interested in this cake because it was for their friend. They ended up eating a lot of sugar seashells and feeling pretty proud of the cake as well.

Carpenter's Rustic Wedding Cake

I have been making cakes for the Carpenters for over 6 years now. The first cake I was commissioned to make was a fish cake for Spencer's 17th Birthday. Well today, I got to make Spencer's wedding cake. His bride had an image of a cake that she loved, so I replicated it for her. The floral and the wood plank really gave the cake a rustic vibe that went so perfectly with their wedding. I keep laughing at the fact that I spent so long learning how to make my frosting super smooth, straight and seamless, and now the trend is to ice the cake with some kind of pattern that looks like it doesn't require any skill, but it takes a surprising amount of skill to do it well!

Cozette's Sweet 2nd Cake

After making her mommy's birthday cake just a few days before, I got to make a simple vanilla birthday cake for Cozette's second birthday. Her mom had a vision for a simple rustic looking swirled vanilla cake with fresh flowers on top. It was a simple and sweet little cake. And how gorgeous is the backdrop for my little cake?

Eliana's Chocolate Sprinkle Cake

This cake was a gift for my friends 30th birthday. She got to eat some of my chocolate cake at a family birthday party and has had my chocolate cupcakes as a Christmas gift, so she let me know early on that she wanted one of my chocolate cakes for her birthday. I had a lot of fun trying to make this chocolate cake a little bit more fun and feminine. I think the mixture of pink and silver sprinkles really did the trick! Happy Birthday Eliana!

Nora's first birthday cupcakes

These were chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and confetti sprinkles for my niece Nora's first birthday. Her mom was pregnant and didn't feel like baking. It turns out I was pregnant too, and didn't really feel like baking either, but I still got them done! And with the cute little balloon toppers I had made a while before finding out I was pregnant, they did not look like a last ditch effort by two pregnant, sick, mommies! Nora sure enjoyed them!

Chocolate and Rose Birthday Cake

If someone in my family has a birthday, they tend to request that I make them a chocolate cake. I can't blame them because I make a pretty mean chocolate cake, but I find myself trying to do something a little different each time because I end up making sooooo many chocolate layer cakes throughout the year. So, for my sisters birthday I made some pink fondant roses using a silicone mold I found. I think it turned out very feminine and pretty. And of course, It tasted really good!

Monkey Cupcakes

These cupcakes were requested by a friend for her  and her daughters birthday. They share a birthday! She sent me a picture of what she wanted and I was able to deliver. I don't know who came up with this idea for money cupcakes originally, but with some vanilla wafers, chocolate sprinkles and candy eyes they came together in a snap.

Stephanie's Sparkly Wedding Cake

My little sister surprised us with a 13 day engagement. About a week before the wedding I was asked to make her wedding cake. This is the simple yet elegant cake we came up with in that short time frame. Lots of sparkle was a must for this cake! The sparkle is actually a ribbon I found at hobby lobby for only $15 a spool! Then I made three white little gumpaste flowers with silver dragees in the middle.

Once I got to the wedding I added a silver S & S on the top for Stephanie and Shane

My Little Pony Cake for My Little Madelynn

My Madelynn turned 4, and she requested a My Little Pony birthday cake. So of course, mommy delivered. It ended up being a crazy week so this cake got pushed to the back burner and was a little rushed, but for a rush job it still turned out pretty fun.

I also made a bunch of rainbow cupcakes for the guests. I totally spaced taking pictures of them before they were eaten, but each child got a cupcake with their own little My Little Pony figurine to take home as a party favor, and the extra cupcakes had a royal icing number 4 on them. Luckily there were a few of those left after the party so I was able to catch a quick picture of them before they were devoured. It was a fun birthday for my spunky little 4 year old!
